LOUIS AUDIBERT RECENTLY SOLD Biography He made his first personal exhibition in 1920 in Marseille at the Hotel du Louvre et Paix, painted decorative panels for the Opera House, the Palace of Justice and the Pavillon de Provence at the 1937 International Exhibition. After World War II, he sets up his studio at No 30 in cours d'Estienne d'Orves (formerly the Canal de la Darse, then of the Customs, filled between 1927 and 1929) in Marseille. The milieu of the painters of the canal is perpetuated around him and the bar Peano (see video). In 1948, he founds the Union of Plastic Arts of which he is elected President. He becomes the teacher of Winston Churchill in 1921 (see video). Audibert focused on setting the local tone according to the light, in a smooth but varied material. Each of his canvases, scene, still life, landscape, is almost always ordered according to the theatricality of the composition, a trend that is found among his contemporaries Alfred Lombard and Pierre Girieud. A major exhibition (see video) is dedicated to him at the Palais Longchamp, Museum of Fine Arts in Marseille, in 1975, which will offer an exceptional panorama of his work since his beginnings, and which will generate great enthusiasm. He died on March 20, 1983 in Marseille. Museums Museum of Cassis Museum of Beaux-Arts de Marseille, Palais Longchamps Auction results Akoun rating |
