Biography
Eugénie Boyer was born in 1887 in Lyon. Very young, she shows interest in drawing. At a time when it is not easy for a woman to impose herself in the world of painting, she takes courses at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. She sets up her workshop near the bear pit in Lyon. Austere and severe, she becomes a painter recognized living far from the artists. She will be recognized in the high society of Lyon for her portraits. She will create remarkable portraits in a romantic spirit inscribing its way in the French movement of the return to order between the two wars. His chiaroscuro on backgrounds in the manner of Derain serves the model. She exhibits regularly at the Salon of French Artists at the Grand Palais in Paris.
She died in 1973. Her works kept by families from generation to generation are rare on the market.
