Biography

Born in Sète in 1938, from a fishing family, this self-taught artist began painting very early. Particularly talented, he made his first exhibition at ... 12 years old. After a brief stay at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Montpellier (Professor Mr. Bessil), he returned to his hometown and worked in the studio of the master François Desnoyer. Seaman, he traveled the world before putting his bag in his hometown. He has exhibited in many galleries in France and notably alongside Fusaro, Baboulene, Routneff, Combas, Di Rosa, Desnoyer ...

In his very particular style, both in his bright colors and in his non-conformist way of painting his canvas, Franceli's work is one of the strong points of the Sète school. His very powerful, colorful, imaginative and humorous paintings unquestionably capture the sensibility of the wise and bear witness to a strong artistic personality.

He died in 2020 in Balaruc-les-Bains.
