The condition is excellent!

This painting is a strong and personal work of the artist. Fernande Horovitz-Edwards is one of those painters born with Impressionism. Auguste Renoir is very present in this post-impressionist work, but it is part of the neo-realist current of the inter-war period. Woman herself, Horovitz-Edwards paints women, and symbolism is often present in her works. A left hand on the right arm of the model obviously shows us a symbolic inversion that cannot be said but only suggested, this subtlety of the testimony being undoubtedly imposed by the bourgeois and moralistic thought of the time.

This painting was exhibited at the 1966 Salon des Indépendants
